I built Pax's mast.
It is built from the excellent quality old growth fir.
Twelve
pieces
scarfed with epoxy and is hollow in sections. It is 53' long airfoiled
shapped and tapered. It has over 15 coats of varnish. Mast fittings
are of galvinized steel. Rigging is galvinized aircraft wire hand
spliced top and bottom around solid bronze thimbles. One pair are
fully served. The turnbuckles are all new oversized merriman bronze.
New galvinized internal chainplates have also been installed.
These are the patterns for the sandcasted silicon bronze boom fittings.
The shroud terminals are solid bronze thimbles. The galvinized aircraft
wire having been hand spliced with the Liverpool longsplice.
